Yasiel Puig, Matt Kemp, Alex Wood Become Reds rotoballer.com Mon 12/24/18 11:30 AM
Starting pitcher Alex Wood, catcher Kyle Farmer, and outfielders Matt Kemp and Yasiel Puig are trading Dodger blue for the bright kit of the Cincinnati Reds. The trio was traded for Homer Bailey and prospects in what was essentially a salary dump for Los Angeles as they attempt to sign or trade for more superstars. The Dodgers run for that elusive championship has hit a breaking point, and they decided that the aging [...]
Jesse Winker's Rehab Almost Over rotoballer.com Fri 11/30/18 12:54 PM
Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jesse Winker's (shoulder) rehab is essentially over, and he's just maintaining strength in his surgically repaired right shoulder now. He will start swinging a bat on Jan. 7. Ive already done some exercises with my training and rehab that if I were to do those in prior years, my shoulder wouldve been killing me, [...]
Jesse Winker (OF, CIN) - Week 22 Waiver Wire Pickups rotoballer.com Sun 8/26/18 5:54 AM
BALLER MOVE: Add in All Dynasty Leagues
OWNED IN: 5% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jesse Winker is purely a play in dynasty or keeper leagues, so stop reading now if you are in a full re-draft league. That being said, Winker is the dictionary definition of a professional hitter, and the 334 plate appearances he put down in 2018 have done nothing but confirm that label. A .299/.405/.431 line is borderline elite in OBP leagues, and he is one of the few players in the ma[...]
Phillip Ervin (OF, CIN) - Week 22 Waiver Wire Pickups rotoballer.com Sun 8/26/18 3:38 AM
BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 4% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Cincinnati Reds outfielder Phillip Ervin has made the most of Jesse Winker's injury and is now getting solid playing time for the Reds. Ervin has hits in eight of the last nine games, including three multi-hit games, and has two doubles and two home runs in the same time period. Since the beginning of August, Ervin has a .313/.373/.547 slash line, posting seven extra-base hits and 26 R+BI.
In tandem with his solid [...]
Week 22 Outfield Waiver Wire Targets rotoballer.com Sun 8/26/18 3:07 AM
My birthday is September 7th, so naturally I'm excited to see the end of August. This being the last full week before the last full month of the season, the final stretch is officially here. And all I want for my birthday is a ticket to the fantasy playoffs.
It's a magical time where we stop looking for long term value and recalibrate to who can help today. It's also the spot for keepers and dynasty players to look at grabbing assets for future seasons. Players like Corey Seager and Jesse Win[...]
Buy or Sell - Undervalued and Overvalued Players for Week 22 rotoballer.com Sat 8/25/18 3:00 AM
It's never too late to buy or sell from the plethora of talented players available in fantasy baseball waiver pools. Instead of trading assets with other owners, you can "buy" players that have been overlooked or recently discarded on the wire. In this case, think of it as a short-term investment that comes at a low cost (you did save at least a couple bucks of FAAB for the final month, right?)
Rather than trade candidates, I'll focus on players that appear to be trending up or down, but cou[...]
Rookie Report: Recent MLB Prospect Call-Ups (Week 19) rotoballer.com Thu 8/9/18 3:45 AM
This week was a particularly slow week in the world of prospects; just eight rookies have debuted since the publishing of last week's column. With that being said, there are still a handful of newcomers worth highlighting and a bunch of returners still cooking with gas.
As we come up on the end of the season, it's worth looking into guys worth stashing for next season, so I'll be highlighting a handful of those guys each week in the opening paragraphs of my article. I think Eloy Jimenez and V[...]
NL-Only Waiver Wire Team of the Week: MLB Week 19 September Call-Up... rotoballer.com Tue 8/7/18 4:00 AM
Every week in baseball, a significant player will hit the disabled list, slip into a slump, or get traded out of a good spot. How fantasy owners adapt to these situations can make or break the season as a whole. One lousy add might not hurt the long-term standing of a team, but failing to take advantage of breakouts or impact bats before others sure can.
The primary challenge of playing in an NL or AL-only league is often the lack of options regarding adding and subtracting players when neede[...]
Rookie Report: Recent MLB Prospect Call-Ups (Week 18) rotoballer.com Thu 8/2/18 3:45 AM
The calendar has turned to August and we still have yet to see some of the big-name prospects that were expected to come up this season. Yes, Kyle Tucker, Willie Calhoun, Juan Soto, and Willy Adames have all made their debuts this season but I seriously doubt that we will see any more of the blue-chip rookies come up this season in time to make a fantasy impact.
With that being said, there is a large crop of rookies to choose from at this point, both blue-chip prospects and less heralded pros[...]
Jesse Winker Undergoes Surgery rotoballer.com Tue 7/31/18 5:03 PM
Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jesse Winker (shoulder) had surgery to fix the labrum in his right shoulder on Tuesday. He is expected to be ready for spring training next year. In 89 games for the Reds in 2018, Winker was excellent with a .299/.405/.431 slash line, seven home runs and 43 RBI. He should have an everyday role in the outfield next year and should be owned in all leagues.
