Weeks was up with the A's for 118 games in 2012, but he hasn't been able to stick in the big leagues for more than 17 games in any year since then.

His biggest asset is versatility -- he's played second and shortstop during his major league career -- a role which he'll likely fill if makes if wins a spot on San Diego's roster.

He has a career .371 OBP at Triple-A, but it is starting to look more and more like Triple-A is where he belongs. Weeks has 63 MLB plate appearances since 2013, and while the Padres are short on high-impact infield talent at the big league level, it could still prove difficult for him to crack the 25-man roster in 2016.
