Weeks (hamstring) will undergo another MRI on Tuesday, Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
His initial MRI was inconclusive, so the Padres will send Weeks for another exam. A hamstring injury forced Weeks to the DL on Sunday, with Jose Pirela recalled in a corresponding move. Pirela is starting at second base Tuesday against lefty Jon Lester, but Adam Rosales seems like the favorite for playing time at the keystone until either Weeks or Cory Spangenberg (quad) returns.

Weeks (hamstring) will be placed on the 15-day DL, Jeff Sanders of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Weeks suffered a strained hamstring in Saturday's matchup against the Mets, and although the move has yet to be made official by the team, it is as close to a certainty as it can get at this point. In his place, Jose Pirela is expected to be recalled from Triple-A El Paso to provide infield depth. With Weeks on the shelf, look for Adam Rosales to get an extended look at second base.

Padres' manager Andy Green indicated that Weeks is likely headed for the DL after sustaining a right hamstring strain in Saturday's game against the Mets, Jeff Sanders of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
With a 15-day DL stint likely on tap, Adam Rosales will see unexpected time at second base while Weeks joins fellow infielders Alexi Amarista (hamstring), Yangervis Solarte (hamstring), and Cory Spangenberg (quad) in rehab.

Weeks exited Saturday's game against the Mets with a right hamstring strain.
EDGE Analysis
The severity of Week's strain remains unclear, and even so, it wouldn't be surprising if he was left out of Sunday's lineup for precautionary reasons if nothing else. If that happens, Adam Rosales will likely take over at second with the Padres dealing with numerous injuries to their infielders.

Weeks will make his fifth straight start at second base Sunday against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
The Padres' top two second basemen, Cory Spangenberg (quadriceps) and Yangervis Solarte (hamstring) are on the DL, which has opened up some at-bats at the keystone for Weeks, who started the season at Triple-A El Paso after falling just short in his bid for a roster spot out of spring training. Through his first four games as a starter, Weeks is hitting just 2-for-11, and may not have many further opportunities after Sunday to see regular action, as Solarte is believed to be fairly close to a return.

Weeks is in the lineup Wednesday against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Weeks was added to the active roster earlier Wednesday and he'll immediately be inserted into the Padres lineup in the eighth spot in place of the injured Cory Spangenberg. The 29-year-old Weeks has not played in a major league game since last season as a member of the Red Sox. If he's able to get on base consistently, he could find himself in a regular role at second base while Spangenberg is on the disabled list.

Weeks had his contract selected by the Padres on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
The Padres placed Cory Spangenberg on the DL on Wednesday due to a quad strain, so the club will replenish its infield depth with the addition of Weeks to the active roster. Even with some guaranteed at-bats for the time being, Weeks' recent track record suggests he may not carry a ton of value from a fantasy standpoint. Weeks was up with the A's for 118 games in 2012, but he hasn't been able to stick in the big leagues for more than 17 games in any year since then.

Weeks will begin the season in the Padres' organization with the team's Triple-A affiliate.
EDGE Analysis
Adam Rosales won the final spot on the San Diego bench this spring, despite an impressive showing from Weeks. Without a spot on the 40-man roster, Weeks' path to the Padres is somewhat obstructed, but he could push his way into the mix if he carries his strong spring into the start of the minor league season.

Weeks is being considered for the Opening Day roster, according to Padres manager Andy Green, the MLB.com reports. "He's done everything we've asked up until now. He's played really well, smoked another triple last night, made a nice sliding play up the middle at shortstop. Early on, I told him I wanted to see him play short and he's passing those tests right now and we're going to continue looking at him there," said the manager.
EDGE Analysis
Green is obviously pleased with Weeks, a non-roster invitee who started at shortstop Saturday and homered. Weeks has shuttled between Triple-A and MLB the last few seasons, with most of that time spent in the minors. His biggest asset is versatility -- he's played second and shortstop during his major league career -- a role which he'll likely fill if makes if wins a spot on San Diego's roster.

Weeks signed a minor league deal with the Padres on Friday, Baseball America's Matt Eddy reports.
EDGE Analysis
He has a career .371 OBP at Triple-A, but it is starting to look more and more like Triple-A is where he belongs. Weeks has 63 MLB plate appearances since 2013, and while the Padres are short on high-impact infield talent at the big league level, it could still prove difficult for him to crack the 25-man roster in 2016.
