Cubs manager David Ross said Tuesday that Candelario will get regular starts at first base, Mike McGraw of the Chicago Daily Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Acquired from the Nationals on Monday in exchange for a pair of minor-leaguers, Candelario is making his Cubs debut at first base Tuesday night against the Reds. Nick Madrigal is starting at third base and Christopher Morel is serving as the designated hitter. This new defensive formation will allow Cody Bellinger to see more action in center field as Chicago looks to make a late run at the NL Central title.

Candelario was traded from the Nationals to the Cubs on Monday in exchange for DJ Herz and Kevin Made, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Candelario has deep ties with the Cubs organization, as he first signed with them as a 16-year-old in 2010 and made his big-league debut with Chicago in 2016 before getting traded to the Tigers and then the Nationals. The switch-hitting third baseman has been very productive this season, slashing .258/.342/.481 with 16 home runs, 57 runs, 53 RBI and six steals in 99 games while playing every day and hitting in the middle of the lineup. He should be able to play almost every day with the Cubs, but he could get more rest days now that he is a part of a deeper active roster.

Candelario is not in Monday's lineup against the Brewers, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Candelario almost never rests when healthy, but in this case he is being held out while the Nationals discuss trade packages with other teams ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline. He is hitting .250 with a .349 OBP, nine home runs and five steals in 48 games since June 1. If Candelario gets traded, it would be to a better lineup, but he may see a home park downgrade and he could hit lower in the lineup and play less often for a contending team.

Candelario said after Friday's game against the Mets that he's "fine" and would have been able to hit if his spot in the lineup came up again, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Aggressiveness on the bases led to an injury scare; Candelario tried to stretch a single into a double and appeared to hurt his left shoulder. He appeared to be in serious pain, but the shoulder apparently checked out OK in the cages in between innings. A likely trade candidate, Candelario went 1-for-3 with a walk Friday and is now slashing .254/.355/.478 on the season.

Candelario went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer, a double and two runs scored in Monday's loss to the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Candelario's eighth-inning blast was his 16th of the year and sixth of the month. He's produced just two multi-hit games in July, going 13-for-57 (.228) during that span. The 29-year-old third baseman's season numbers are still impressive; Candelario is slashing .257/.335/.486 with 50 RBI and 46 extra-base hits through 93 games and has turned himself into a quality trade chip for the Nationals.

Candelario went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 8-3 loss to the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Candelario has homered in two of three games since he returned from a minor thumb injury. He's swatted five of his 15 homers this season over 13 contests in July. The infielder is slashing .259/.334/.485 with 46 RBI, 49 runs scored, five stolen bases and 27 doubles through 89 contests. He's on pace for career-best numbers in a majority of the standard fantasy categories.

Candelario went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored Monday in a 7-5 win against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Candelario was removed from Friday's game against the Cardinals due to a thumb injury and wasn't able to start either Saturday or Sunday. However, he was back in the lineup Monday and showed immediately that the thumb is no longer an issue, smashing a two-run shot in the first inning to give Washington an early lead. Candelario is quietly putting together a solid campaign, slashing .263/.340/.486 with 14 homers, 27 doubles, 45 RBI, 48 runs and five steals over 368 plate appearances.

Candelario (thumb) will start at third base and bat third Monday against the Cubs, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Candelario was a late scratch from the lineup ahead of Sunday's 8-4 loss to the Cardinals when his thumb bothered him in pregame warmups, but he looks on track to give it a go Monday. If Candelario's thumb is still presenting complications in the field leading up to the 8:05 p.m. ET opening pitch, the Nationals could turn to Ildemaro Vargas to spell him at third base.

Candelario (thumb) has been scratched from Sunday's lineup against the Cardinals, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
He was penciled in to return after suffering a bone bruise in his thumb Friday, but evidently Candelario's pregame work didn't go well. Ildemaro Vargas is now set for another start at third base while Candelario remains day-to-day ahead of Monday's series opener at Wrigley Field.

Candelario (thumb) is in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
A bone bruise in his right thumb forced Candelario from Friday's game and kept him out of the lineup Saturday. Fortunately for Washington, the third baseman will be able to return for the series finale in St. Louis, which keeps him in the spotlight for potential trade partners. Candelario is slashing .260/.336/.477 with 27 doubles and 13 homers in 363 plate appearances so far this season.
