Samardzija (4-7) took the loss Wednesday, giving up five runs on three hits and two walks over five innings while striking out six as the Giants were toppled 6-3 by the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
A third-inning grand slam by David Dahl accounted for most of the damage and put the Giants in a hole their scattershot offense couldn't climb out of. Samardzija will carry a 4.52 ERA and 72:26 K:BB through 83.2 innings into his next start Monday in San Diego.

Samardzija (4-6) picked up the win Friday, giving up five runs on nine hits and a walk over six innings while striking out five in an 11-5 victory over the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
The Giants racked up six runs in the first three innings, giving Samardzija just enough cushion to withstand a four-run Arizona rally in the fourth and still come away with the win. The right-hander will carry a 4.23 ERA and 66:24 K:BB through 78.2 innings into his next start Wednesday, at home against the Rockies.

Samardzija (3-6) allowed four runs on nine hits and two walks across five innings while taking the loss Sunday against the Brewers. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Samardzija allowed a steady stream of baserunners throughout the contest and was scored upon in four different innings. He generated seven groundball outs to help his cause, but he still needed 114 pitches to battle through five frames. Samardzija has an uninspiring 5.76 ERA over his last four outings and will face a tough task in his next start on the road against the D-backs.

Samardzija (3-5) gave up three runs on seven hits while walking two and striking out five over 5.1 innings and taking the loss against the Dodgers on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Samardzija pitched fairly well considering the difficult matchup (Dodgers rank first in wRC+ and second in slugging percentage against right-handed pitchers). The 34-year-old was able to maintain an aggressive approach (68 of 101 pitches for strikes) without grooving too many pitches over the heart of the plate (three extra-base hits, none of which were homers). The righty hit a rough patch in May (5.55 ERA), but has looked like prime Shark through two starts in June (3.18 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 5.5 K/BB). With two off days this upcoming week, Samardzija could pitch next as early as Friday against the Brewers, who present yet another risky matchup for righties.

Samardzija (3-4) allowed one earned run on three hits and no walks while striking out six across six innings to earn the win Sunday against the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
Samardzija handled the Orioles, with his only earned run coming on a solo homer by Trey Mancini. He still wasn't particularly deceptive, generating only 11 swinging strikes on 110 pitches. However, he controlled his pitches well, starting 13 of the 21 batters he faced with a strike and finding the zone with 77 of his 110 pitches. It was a nice bounceback effort for Samardzija, as he squandered a start at Miami by allowing five earned runs in his previous outing. He'll look to build on Sunday's victory in his next scheduled start, currently penciled in for Friday against the Dodgers.

Samardzija (2-4) allowed five runs on eight hits with four strikeouts and a walk across four innings while taking a loss against the Marlins on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
The eight hits allowed was a season high for Samardzija, who is still only permitting opponents to bat .237 against him. Homers and not quantity of hits have been Samardzija's bigger issue this year, but he actually kept the ball in the yard Tuesday. Still, he suffered his third straight loss. Samardzija is 2-4 with a 3.83 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 45 strikeouts in 56.1 innings this season. He is scheduled to take the hill again against the Orioles on Sunday.

Samardzija (2-3) took the loss Wednesday against the Braves, allowing six runs (all unearned) on four hits and two walks while fanning seven through six innings of work.
EDGE Analysis
It was first time in his last seven starts that Samardzija managed to complete six innings, but it sure wasn't pretty. The 34-year-old surrendered the lead for good after a messy second inning that started by hitting Austin Riley with a pitch. With one out, Samardzija's own throwing error prevented a double play as Ozzie Albies took first. Speedy Braves starter Max Fried took advantage and scored the first run of the game with a force-out RBI. Trouble continued when Ronald Acuna Jr. struck out but still reached on Samardzija's wild pitch. The ultimate damage came from back-to-back home runs by Dansby Swanson and Freddie Freeman to give the Braves a 6-0 lead. The veteran righty now holds a 3.27 ERA and 1.17 WHIP and will look to get back into the win column against the Marlin on Tuesday.

Samardzija (2-2) took the loss Friday against the Diamondbacks after allowing three runs on five hits and three walks without registering a strikeout through 5.1 innings of work.
EDGE Analysis
Samardzija, who has notoriously struggled through the first inning this season, allowed just one run via a solo shot to David Peralta through five frames before the Diamondbacks finally got to him in the sixth. It was the first time in 101 career starts that Samardzija did not record a strikeout. The right-hander now holds a 3.69 ERA and 1.19 WHIP through nine appearances. He'll look to earn his first win in nearly a month against the Braves his next time out.

Samardzija did not factor into the decision in Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Reds after giving up three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out five over four innings.
EDGE Analysis
Samardzija's day was cut short when his turn came up in the batting order of a 3-3 game with a runner on third and less than two outs. The 34-year-old didn't make the pinch-hit decision very tough for his manager, as he was already at 86 pitches (54 strikes) through four frames. The righty was roughed up for four homers over his last two starts (both coming against the Reds), causing his HR/9 to nearly double from 0.8 to its current mark of 1.5. The Shark will carry a solid 3.51 ERA and 1.15 WHIP into a road matchup against the Diamondbacks next Friday.

Samardzija allowed four runs on five hits across five innings during Sunday's win over the Reds. He gave up three home runs while striking out four batters in the no-decision.
EDGE Analysis
All four runs came in the first inning where Samardzija gave up three straight homers to Eugenio Suarez, Jesse Winker and Derek Dietrich on three consecutive pitches. Prior to Sunday's outing, the 34-year-old had allowed just three homers in 32 innings on the year. On the bright side, he retired the final 12 batters he faced after the first inning and his offense helped him avoid the loss. He'll look for better results against the Reds on Friday.
