Ferrell signed a minor league contract Friday to return to the Tigers, George Sipple of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ferrell opted for free agency in October after being DFA'd by the Tigers, but he will return to the club he's spent his entire career with. He posted a 7.36 ERA with Triple-A Toledo in 2016, though he pitched just 7.1 innings over six games. He'll likely return to Toledo next season.

Ferrell signed a minor-league contract with the Tigers on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Ferrell was released by the Tigers in mid-August, but he decided to return to the club after being unable to land a contract elsewhere. On a minor league deal, it seems unlikely he will join the big club before the season comes to a close.

Ferrell was granted his unconditional release Monday.
EDGE Analysis
After being DFA'd last week, Ferrell passed through waivers unclaimed but will opt for free agency, rather than continuing to toil at Triple-A Toledo. In six appearances (7.1 innings) for Toledo on the season, Ferrell allowed 16 hits and six earned runs.

Ferrell was designated for assignment Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
In order to make room on the 40-man roster for Donn Roache who was claimed off waivers Tuesday, the Tigers designated for assignment the contract of Jeff Ferrell. Ferrell has posted a 7.36 ERA and 2.54 WHIP over 7.1 innings for Detroit's Triple-A affiliate and will likely remain there unless he gets picked up by another club now that he's on waivers.

Ferrell was reinstated from the 15-day disabled list Monday and was optioned to Triple-A Toledo.
EDGE Analysis
Ferrell was shut down toward the end of spring training with a shoulder impingement, but after dominating batters in a three rehab appearances with High-A Lakeland, he seems to be back to full health. He'll likely slot into the bullpen with Triple-A Toledo and could find his way to the majors if he can improve against upper-level hitters.

Ferrell (shoulder) will begin rehab assignment with Single-A Lakeland on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Ferrell holds a 6.35 ERA through 11.3 innings of work this year and will now begin rehabbing at the Single-A level. It is likely that he will spend a couple weeks in the minors working on getting back to full strength and is expected to join the Tigers in early May.

Ferrell (shoulder) has been placed on the disabled list.
EDGE Analysis
Once he's healthy, Ferrell is a candidate to get sent down to Triple-A Toledo, but it's possible that his return will linger on deep into the first half of the season.

Ferrell has been shut down with shoulder impingement, reports The Detroit News.
EDGE Analysis
The tendons and bursa are inflamed and the swelling is pinching parts of the rotator cuff. Ferrell said he pitched through the pain most of last year and during the Arizona Fall League, so at this point, it seems to be chronic. Detroit's pitching coach is working with him on a mechanical change to shorten what is characterized as an "exaggerated" backswing. But there is no timetable for Ferrell to resume his throwing program.

Ferrell struck out three and allowed just one hit, a home run, in 2.0 innings of relief Sunday against Kansas City.
EDGE Analysis
Ferrell got off to a rough start in the majors after his call up, but his last two appearances have shown a bit more potential. He has allowed just two hits in his last 3.0 innings of work.
