Martinez (thumb) will play left field against the Rangers on Thursday, Ryan Hannable of WEEI.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Martinez went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Wednesday's victory but admitted after the game that he aggravated his sore left thumb during an at-bat in the fifth inning. He initially injured the thumb in mid-April against the Yankees but hasn't been forced to miss any time with the issue. It doesn't seem to have any impact on his performance, as he's hitting .343/.392/.593 with six home runs and 24 RBI this year.

Martinez aggravated his sore left thumb during Wednesday's game against the Royals, Michael Silverman and Jason Mastrodonato of the Boston Herald report.
EDGE Analysis
Martinez said the injury happened while swinging at a pitch in the fifth inning. He initially jammed the thumb during the series against the Yankees early last month and has been fighting it ever since. "It's gotten better, it goes away and then it comes back. All it takes is one swing," said Martinez, whose thumb and left hand were wrapped up after the game. He plans to continue to play through the pain, which hasn't had too much impact on his production. Martinez has a .985 OPS with six home runs and 24 RBI over 28 games.

Martinez went 4-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI in Sunday's victory over the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Martinez shook off Saturday's three strikeout, 0-for-4 performance with a terrific outing Sunday. Martinez has been excellent so far this season and is slashing .330/.374/.567 after 25 games. He also has 22 RBI, a mark that figures to climb as he continues hitting in Boston's potent lineup.

Martinez will serve as designated hitter and bat cleanup against the Athletics on Saturday, Sean McAdam of BostonSportsJournal.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Martinez received the day off Friday after being lifted for a pinch runner late in Thursday's game, but there was never any indication of an injury. The 30-year-old will look to continue with his hot bat, and is 13-for-24 with three doubles, two home runs and five RBI over his last six games.

Martinez is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the A's, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Martinez was lifted for a pinch runner in the eighth inning of Thursday's game after his second double of the night, but there has been no word of an injury to this point. Hanley Ramirez will serve as the designated hitter in the series opener against righty Kendall Graveman, with Andrew Benintendi, Jackie Bradley and Mookie Betts in the outfield from left to right.

Martinez went 3-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's 8-2 win over the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
It's easy to miss an individual's contributions when a team starts the season at 16-2, tops in MLB, and Martinez is one of them. One week ago, he was batting .227, but has put on a show since. He's 13-for-24 (.542) with three doubles, two home runs and five RBI over the past six games. Boston's starting pitching has been elite and Mookie Betts is tearing up the league, but Martinez has gone under the radar to raise his average 111 points over the past week and is looking comfortable in the middle of the order after a slow start.

Martinez went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and an RBI single Saturday against the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
It may not have been a grand slam like Wednesday's blast was, but Martinez continues to swing a hot bat for the Red Sox. The team's biggest offseason acquisition is now hitting .283 with three homers and 13 RBI, putting him well on pace for another season of 30-plus home runs and over 100 RBI.

Martinez went 2-for-4 with a grand slam in Wednesday's 10-7 loss to the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
It's his second homer of the season, and while Martinez's batting average is still a sluggish .250 (10-for-40) he has driven in 10 runs in 10 games. The 30-year-old is locked into the cleanup spot in one of MLB's better offenses, and Martinez should continue to produce big numbers as long as he can stay healthy.

Martinez went 1-for-2 with a homer, two runs and two RBI Saturday against the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Martinez's first Red Sox homer was a seventh-inning solo shot off Chaz Roe. He also drove in a run on a first-inning sacrifice fly. His opening six games had been something of a disappointment, as he'd hit .240/.296/.360. It's still very early, though, so the slugger has plenty of time to get on a roll and climb back up near the top of the home run leaderboard.

Martinez is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Marlins, Evan Drellich of NBC Sports Boston reports.
EDGE Analysis
With no designated hitter spot available in the Marlins' ballpark, Martinez will head to the bench for the first time all season. He's already picked up a pair of starts in the outfield, so look for him to rejoin the lineup as the team's left fielder for Tuesday's contest.
