The Padres acquired Adam from the Rays on Sunday in exchange for right-hander Dylan Lesko, outfielder Homer Bush and catcher J.D. Gonzalez, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

With the Rays, Adam appeared to be next in line for saves behind closer Pete Fairbanks, and he'll likely find himself in a similar spot in the bullpen hierarchy in San Diego.
