Gustave was recalled from Triple-A Fresno on Friday, Julia Morales of Root Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gustave, 23, fared well during his time with Fresno this season and held his own in a brief audition with the big club earlier this month. He can consistently dial his fastball up to the high-90s and is interesting long term, but it's hard to imagine Gustave cracking the back end of the bullpen this year with just over a month remaining.

Gustave was optioned to Triple-A Fresno on Monday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gustave came up from Fresno last week after the team DFA'd Carlos Gomez, but he'll head back to the minors as right-hander Ken Giles returns from the paternity list. The 23-year-old Gustave appeared in three games for Houston, scattering four hits and one earned run across 3.1 innings.

Gustave was recalled from Triple-A Fresno on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
With Carlos Gomez being designated for assignment, Gustave will head back to Houston to add depth to their bullpen. Gustave never pitched in a game during his first stint with Houston this season, however, he's been most-used relievers. During the 2016 campaign, Gustave has pitched 51 innings over 41 games at Fresno, where he owns a 3.71 ERA and 1.20 WHIP.

The 23-year-old righty drew rave reviews in camp, and appears positioned to be an important setup man for Houston later this season.

Gustave has drawn raves from Astros manager A.J. Hinch and general manager Jeff Luhnow this spring, Jose de Jesus Ortiz of the Houston Chroncile reports.
EDGE Analysis
"He's a viable candidate to make our team," Hinch said of Gustave, who sports a 0.00 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 6:1 K:BB ratio over four Grapefruit League innings. "He's got high-end velocity. Watching his slider develop over the course of this camp, he's got some real weapons that hitters have to deal with." While the 23-year-old right-hander has yet to see playing time above Double-A, both Hinch and Luhnow have said he could help the Astros this season. If he doesn't make the team out of spring training, he'll open 2016 with Triple-A Fresno.

Gustave was added to the 40-man roster Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Gustave was selected by the Red Sox in the Rule 5 Draft last year, but after failing to make multiple teams' final 25-man rosters, the 23-year-old wound up back with the Astros - posting a 2.15 ERA with Double-A Corpus Christi in 2015. He could be a candidate to join the major-league club at some point during next season, but this move was almost assuredly made in order to protect him from the Rule 5 Draft this time around.

Gustave was returned to the Astros on Friday and assigned to Double-A Corpus Christi, Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reports. The Red Sox took Gustave in December's Rule 5 draft and immediately sold him to Kansas City, but the right-hander failed to earn an Opening Day roster spot and thus the Royals had to offer him back to the Astros. Gustave will bypass the High-A level despite struggling to a 5.01 ERA and 1.56 WHIP in 23 appearances with Low-A Quad Cities in 2014.
