James Shields is expected to be ineligible for All-Star game. Shields is expected to start on Sunday July 10th which is the last day before the All-Star break. Shields was certainly a viable candidate to be the American League starter so look for either Jared Weaver or Justin Verlander to be the favorites for the start.

James Shields was dominating yet again on Sunday, allowing just one unearned run on four hits against the Marlins, going the distance in a Tampa Bay 2-1 victory. The complete game was James' major-league leading fifth of the season, and lowered his ERA to 2.40 and WHIP to 1.00. Coming into 2011, James had completed only five of his 151 career starts. It has taken him just 15 outings to double that total this season.
