Marisnick (thumb) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list Monday. He'll start in center field and bat eighth in the Pirates' series opener in Miami.
EDGE Analysis
Marisnick underwent surgery in early May to address UCL damage in his left thumb, but he'll rejoin the active roster after missing just over two months. He recently appeared in seven rehab games and hit .250 with two doubles, two runs, two walks and 13 strikeouts. Bryan Reynolds (oblique) was placed on the 10-day IL as part of a corresponding move, and the righty-hitting Marisnick will likely fill out the shorter side of a platoon in center field while Reynolds is on the shelf.

Marisnick (thumb) went 1-for-4 with two strikeouts Tuesday in his first rehab game with Triple-A Indianapolis.
EDGE Analysis
Marisnick returned to action for the first time since May 9 after a prolonged recovery from thumb surgery. The 31-year-old also tested positive for the coronavirus just over a week ago and was placed on the COVID-19-related injured list, but he's since reverted to the 60-day IL. As a result of the transaction, Marisnick won't be eligible for activation until next weekend at the soonest, even though he shouldn't need that much time to regain his timing at the plate. He's expected to serve as a depth outfielder for the big club once reinstated.

Marisnick (thumb) will likely begin a rehab assignment next week, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
Marisnick has been sidelined since early May while recovering from thumb surgery and landed on the COVID-19 injured list Monday. It doesn't appear as though his shift to the COVID-19 IL will impact his progress in his recovery, as he'll likely be able to return to game action in the minors next week. Given the length of his absence, Marisnick will likely need to appear in several rehab games prior to rejoining the Pirates.

Pirates director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said Marisnick (thumb) is building up his post-surgery pain tolerance, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Marisnick is testing his surgically repaired left thumb by gripping a bat and catching the ball, among other activities, but he's not yet swinging or playing the outfield. He's likely at least a couple weeks away from making his return from the 10-day injured list.

The Pirates announced Wednesday that Marisnick (thumb) has received full clearance to resume "advanced gripping activities, more specific to baseball activities," Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The team added that Marisnick is a bit ahead of schedule in his recovery from May 12 surgery on his left thumb. Following the procedure, Marisnick was projected to remain sidelined for 4-to-6 weeks before resuming baseball activities, but a return from the 10-day injured list in mid-June now looks to be a realistic outcome for the 30-year-old.

Marisnick underwent surgery Thursday to address UCL damage to his left thumb and is expected to remain out for 4-to-6 weeks before resuming baseball activities, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Once he's cleared for activities, Marisnick will likely need to put in several workouts before heading out on a minor-league rehab assignment, so he won't be a realistic candidate to return from the 10-day injured list until late June or early July. Marisnick's absence leaves the Pirates without an obvious fourth outfielder, which could result in lefty-hitting starters Ben Gamel and Jack Suwinski playing more regularly against southpaws.

Marisnick sustained a UCL injury in his left thumb and will require surgery, Jake Crouse of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Marisnick landed on the injured list Tuesday after sustaining his thumb injury during Monday's matchup against the Dodgers. The 31-year-old doesn't have a timetable for his return, but he'll presumably require more than the minimum of 10 days on the IL. Prior to his injury, Marisnick had hit .163 with two doubles, five runs, an RBI and a stolen base over 22 games.

The Pirates placed Marisnick (thumb) on the 10-day injured list Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Right-handed pitcher Max Kranick was summoned from Triple-A Indianapolis to join the 26-man active roster as a replacement for Marisnick, who injured his left thumb in Monday's 5-1 win over the Dodgers. Marisnick has served as a short-side platoon outfielder for Pittsburgh this season, seeing action in 22 games while hitting .163/.196/.204 across 52 plate appearances.

Marisnick was removed from Monday's game against the Dodgers after suffering a left thumb injury on a diving playin the outfield, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Marisnick made a spectacular catch in the field, but it would cost him, as he was unable to remain in the game. He'll be considered day-to-day until the nature of the injury is revealed.
