Ellsbury (knee) ran sprints and took dry swings Friday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. Ellsbury is yet to return to baseball activities, but he's getting closer as he continues to work back from a knee injury. Initially faced with a five-to-six-week recovery timetable, Ellsbury is hopeful to be able to return before the end of the month.

Ellsbury (knee) is on track to return toward the end of June according to general manager Brian Cashman, the team's official site reports. Cashman gave a five-to-six week timetable from the initial injury, which would put the earliest return date for Ellsbury at June 23. The outfielder has been in a knee brace and won't start baseball activities until it's removed. With Brett Gardner shifting to center field, Ramon Flores and Chris Young figure to hold down the third outfield spot until Ellsbury returns to the full health.

Ellsbury (knee) has not increased his workload since landing on the DL last week, the NY Post reports. The Yankees never fully clarified the exact injury, but it's now being labeled as a sprained right knee. Ellsbury has been walking in a brace for the past week and doesn't appear as though he'll be ready to be activated next Wednesday when he's first eligible. Slade Heathcott and Chris Young figure to continue seeing starts in center field in his absence.

Ellsbury (knee) will go on the 15-day DL, YES Network's Jack Curry reports. Ellsbury suffered the knee injury in Tuesday's game and was slated for an MRI following the game, which apparently revealed something that would take at least a couple weeks to heal. It is still not clear how serious the injury is, but we at least know Ellsbury will be out until early-June. Slade Heathcott was recalled from Triple-A to offer depth in center field, but look for Chris Young to see the majority of the starts while Ellsbury is out.

Ellsbury (knee) will undergo an MRI and will miss some time, although it is still unclear how serious the injury is, Newsday's Erik Boland reports. The Yankees will await results of the MRI before setting a timetable for his return, but it sounds like a DL stint could be a possibility. Chris Young is now worth an add in deeper leagues as he figures to see the bulk of the playing time in center field while Ellsbury is out.

Ellsbury left Tuesday's game with a right knee injury, the Washington Post's Chelsea Janes reports. It is not clear how serious the injury is, but his status will be updated when more details are available. Carlos Beltran entered the game and Chris Young shifted to center field following Ellsbury's departure. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Ellsbury is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Rays, according to Newsday's Erik Boland. Ellsbury has been hot all season and is still hitting .341, but with him going just 1-for-10 over his last two games, manager Joe Girardi felt it was time for a day off. Chris Young will replace Ellsbury in center field, and Brett Gardner will take his place atop the order.

Ellsbury extended his hitting streak to nine straight games, going 1-for-4 in Wednesday's loss to the Blue Jays. Ellsbury has been getting it done with more than just his bat as he's swiped seven bases during this nine game stretch to give him an AL-leading 11 steals on the season. The center fielder is slashing .355/.427/.409, and while that likely won't be sustainable over the course of the entire season, he doesn't appear to be showing any signs of slowing down for the time being.

Ellsbury (hip) is back in the starting lineup Monday, Erik Boland of Newsday reports. The Yankees gave Ellsbury a day of rest Sunday following an early exit from Saturday's contest due to hip tightness. He's in his typical leadoff role and covering center field for Monday night. Ellsbury is hitting .282 with 14 runs scored and four steals through 17 games this season.
