DeGrom allowed one earned run on two this and no walks while striking out three across two innings in a rehab outing with Double-A Frisco on Thursday, Jeff Wilson of RangersToday.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
DeGrom threw 29 total pitches, 23 of which went for strikes. He also regularly hit 99 mph with his fastball and hit 100 mph at least once. DeGrom will need a few more rehab outings before being activated, but this was a positive first step toward a return.

Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said Monday that deGrom (elbow) will likely need four rehab starts in the minors before likely being activated from the 60-day injured list around mid-September, MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
DeGrom will begin his rehab assignment with Double-A Frisco on Thursday, when he's expected to toss around 30 pitches over two innings. Bochy noted that deGrom will gradually increase his pitch count over his subsequent rehab outings, and if he sticks to a four-day rest schedule between starts in the minors, the right-hander could be available to make his 2024 Rangers debut as soon as Sept. 11. Entering play Tuesday, the Rangers sit 11 games behind the Astros for the AL West lead and 12.5 games behind the pace for a wild-card spot, and while a postseason berth appears unlikely, the organization would still like to see deGrom pitch in the big leagues before the end of the season to gain a better understanding of what type of workload he'll be able to handle in 2025. After signing with the Rangers in December 2022, deGrom made just six starts in his first season with Texas before undergoing his second career Tommy John surgery last June.

DeGrom (elbow) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Tuesday before making his first rehab start Thursday for Double-A Frisco, Jeff Wilson of RangersToday.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
DeGrom will pitch in a game for the first time since he underwent Tommy John surgery in June 2023. The 35-year-old is expected to require several rehab starts, but he appears to be on track to return in September. The Rangers are unlikely to make the playoffs this year, but they would like to determine how good deGrom can be and how much of a workload he can handle in 2025, per Jeff Wilson of RangersToday.com. DeGrom also stated that it's important for him to return this season and that he looks forward to having a normal offseason.

DeGrom (elbow) threw another live batting practice session Saturday and hopes to begin a rehab assignment late next week, Jeff Wilson of RangersToday.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
He threw his first 20-pitch live BP session Aug. 7 and it sounds like Saturday's session could be his last before he goes to a minor-league affiliate. It's unclear how many rehab starts deGrom will need before being activated, but he remains a top late-season stash in fantasy leagues.

DeGrom (elbow) with throw a 20-pitch live batting practice session Thursday at Globe Life Field, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
It will be deGrom's first time facing hitters since he underwent Tommy John surgery in June of 2023. Assuming it goes well, the right-hander will then progress to a two-inning live batting practice session early next week, which could be the final box he needs to check before being cleared to begin a rehab assignment. DeGrom will need multiple rehab starts before rejoining the Rangers' rotation.

DeGrom (elbow) threw a 45-pitch bullpen session Saturday, Dave Sessions of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
DeGrom, who threw all of his pitches, simulated three innings in the bullpen and is ready to face hitters for his next outing. "Having a batter step in, the intensity will change a little bit, and that's where you really find out where you're at," deGrom said. The right-hander said he "felt good" but believes he still needs work on location.

EDGE Analysis
DeGrom threw three sets of 15 pitches and came away from the session feeling good. The right-hander reiterated once again the goal is to pitch this year and hopefully get the Rangers into the postseason. Texas general manager Chris Young admitted that return timelines are fluid, but the organization's goal is to have deGrom pitching for the Rangers at some point in August.

DeGrom (elbow) will throw a 45-pitch bullpen session Tuesday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
DeGrom is expected to throw two total bullpen sessions on this road trip before facing hitters. He threw between 40 and 45 pitches in a bullpen session a week ago, so deGrom's workload hasn't been increasing, although his intensity in each session could be progressing. Once he throws his final bullpen session this week, we could get an update on when and where he will face hitters.

EDGE Analysis
DeGrom continues to work his way through his rehab program from Tommy John surgery in June of 2023. He has steadily increased his pitch count and velocity with each bullpen session, and he appears to be closer to going out on a rehab assignment.
