New York Mets starting pitcher Jacob deGrom avoided salary arbitration on Friday by agreeing to a one-year, $17 million deal. It's a record raise in the arbitration process for a third-time arbitration-eligible pitcher. deGrom earned it by winning the National League Cy Young by going 10-9 with a microscopic 1.70 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 269 strikeouts over his 32 starts. He's RotoBaller's fourth-ranked fantasy starter heading into next season.

Nick Pivetta - Ace In The Making rotoballer.com Sun 1/6/19 8:30 AM
In 2018 there was a breakout pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies who took the league by storm. After garnering league-wide attention, hes pegged by many fantasy experts as a top-tier starting pitcher for the upcoming year. I'm talking about Aaron Nola, of course. But after this season it very well could be Nick Pivetta. He had a breakout of sorts last year as well, but the best is yet to come from the 25-year-old Victoria, BC native. After Pivetta was traded straight up for established closer J[...]
Jacob deGrom 2019 Outlook: Do The Numbers Lie? rotoballer.com Fri 12/28/18 9:07 PM
Typically, a pitcher coming off a Cy Young season would be a coveted asset in fantasy drafts the following season and more than likely Jacob deGrom will be no different in 2019. deGrom was able to notch his first Cy Young after posting a league-leading 1.70 ERA over 32 starts in 2018. deGrom was also able to toss 200 innings for a second consecutive season and his third season with at least 200 strikeouts in his first five years. The numbers seem to suggest we should trust deGrom as our ace this[...]

The New York Mets had preliminary contract-extension talks with starting pitcher Jacob deGrom's agents this week. It's unlikely that anything happens soon, but the lines of communication are open. deGrom dazzled in 2018 and won the National League Cy Young, although he only managed to win 10 games with a bad Mets offense behind him despite posting a miniscule 1.70 ERA, 0.91 [...]

The second blockbuster for the Seattle Mariners during the 2018 MLB offseason was finalized on Monday, as the Mariners sent Edwin Diaz and Robinson Cano to the New York Mets for Jay Bruce, Anthony Swarzak, Gerson Bautista, Justin Dunn, and Jarred Kelenic.By trading Cano and Diaz, the Mariners got financial freedom from Cano's contract and two former first-round picks in Dunn and Kelenic. 2018 Pitching Leaders - ERA rotoballer.com Tue 12/4/18 10:30 AM
It was an impressive year for ERA in 2018, as MLB's combined 4.14 ERA was the lowest since league pitching recorded a 3.95 ERA in 2015. Just to give you an idea of how much pitching improved this year, all four of the pitchers that will be mentioned in this list finished in the top-10 in ERA among qualified pitchers, and only one of them had finished in the top-30 in 2017.Now normally "rising" and "ERA" are not something you want to hear in the same sentence. For the purposes of this article tho[...]
