Yankees sent INF Jayson Nix outright to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Nix cleared waivers after being designated for assignment last week. Nix, 30, batted .243/.306/.384 with four homers and a .690 OPS in 74 games with the Yankees this past season and figures to compete for a backup infielder job in the spring.
