Yankees placed 1B Mark Teixeira on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 16, with right wrist inflammation. An MRI over the weekend didn't reveal any new damage in the wrist, but he was given a cortisone shot and will now get some extended rest. The Yankees are hopeful that he'll be able to play through the condition for the entire season, but the possibility of surgery still looms. Lyle Overbay will fill in at first base once again.
