Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said during an appearance on Sirius XM radio on Tuesday that he hopes Mark Teixeira (calf) will return during a series against the Blue Jays from September 27-30. Teixeira hasn't played since aggravating his left calf strain on September 8. The Yankees are hopeful he'll return before the end of the regular season, but Cashman categorized his recovery as "slow." "I don't he's close to getting back here," said Cashman. "I think we'll have a chance to get him back before the season's over ... maybe the Toronto series on the road, which is a little ways down the line here in that last week of the season." Nick Swisher and Steve Pearce will continue to fill in at first base for now.
