X-rays taken Thursday revealed that Lagares suffered a fracture in his left thumb, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is another significant injury for a Mets club that has already lost Matt Harvey and Neil Walker in the last 24 hours. Lagares suffered the injury making a diving play in the field Thursday against the Nationals, and though he was able to finish out the half-inning, he was ultimately replaced by Curtis Granderson. With injuries already wreaking havoc in the Mets' outfield, the club may need to tap into its farm system to find a suitable replacement. That said, Curtis Granderson should have a clearer path to more regular playing time with Lagares sidelined.
