Wright will be Boston's fifth starter to open the season, the Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wright's job in the rotation is temporary, filling in for the injured Eduardo Rodriguez (knee), but is expected to last through early May. The first time Boston will need a fifth starter is Apr. 10 and depending on when Rodriguez is set to return, Wright may get another four or five starts beyond that. Rodriguez, who has yet to appear in a game since injuring his right knee Feb. 29, will throw live batting practice for the first time Saturday. Throw in a few more sessions of batting practice, a rehab assignment, and the time needed to get up to 90 pitches, and we can easily see Wright pitching in a starting role into May.
