Normally a starter, Weaver begins the season in the bullpen because of a blister on his right thumb that interrupted the right-hander's progression in camp. With 18 strikes among his 23 pitches, Weaver was around the plate but maybe caught too much of it. It's uncertain how long Weaver will remain in a relief role, but the Diamondbacks have confirmed Caleb Smith will make at least one start in his place.
