Workman was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket on Friday, Evan Drellich of CSN New England reports.

Eduardo Rodriguez injured his knee during warmups Thursday, and although he ultimately pitched in the following contest, he struggled mightily and now will require a DL stint. This opens up a spot for Workman to head to Boston, who has been outstanding out of Pawtucket's bullpen. He'll likely fill a long-relief role for the Red Sox while Rodriguez is sidelined.
