Workman was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket on Friday.

With Brian Johnson coming up for the start against Detroit on Friday, Workman was sent back down to Triple-A in order to create a spot for the southpaw. Johnson saw action in Thursday's series finale versus the Yankees, giving up two earned runs off three hits while striking out two in 2.1 innings of work.
