Workman (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day disabled list Wednesday, Jason Mastrodonato of the Boston Herald reports.

The Red Sox needed a spot on the 40-man roster for Josh Rutledge, so Workman was transferred to the 60-day DL in order to make room for him. This is largely a procedural move, was Workman is not expected to return until closer to the end of the season.
