Workman (elbow) left his rehab appearance for short-season Lowell on Friday with "something in his side," according to Lowell manager Iggy Suarez, Matt Langone of the Lowell Sun reports.

Workman's performance before leaving the game wasn't all that good. The right-hander failed to record an out, permitting four runs (three earned) on two hits and two walks. Suarez said the decision to remove him was precautionary, but it certainly stalls his potential return to Boston.
