The Yankees optioned Locastro to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Locastro looked to have secured a spot on the Opening Day roster after Ender Inciarte was reassigned to the minors Monday, but the Yankees appear set to go without a traditional outfielder on their bench to start the season. Rather than Locastro or Inciarte, the Yankees will turn to the versatile Marwin Gonzalez as their nominal backup outfielder, even though the 33-year-old has seen most of his big-league action in the infield. Locastro will report to Triple-A and could represent the top option for a call-up if the Yankees require additional outfield depth at some point.
