Both Isbel and Edward Olivares broke camp with the big club as reserve outfielders. Andrew Benintendi, Michael Taylor and Whit Merrifield compose the Royals' starting outfield from left to right and should have a fair amount of security in those roles against both left- and right-handed pitching, so Isbel and Olivares could struggle to find consistent playing time. Isbel has two minor-league options remaining and will be a prime candidate for a demotion if the team needs to clear up a roster spot.
