Wilton Lopez tossed 1 1/3 perfect relief innings in Saturday's 10-2 drubbing of the Giants. Lopez held a 12.46 ERA on April 12 and has been working since to minimize the toll his early-season woes wrought on his earned run average. He finished his first month in Colorado with a 6.17 ERA, but has been the reliever the Rockies believed they were acquiring over the winter since, posting a 2.08 ERA over 8 2/3 innings. Interestingly, Lopez had a superb 8/0 K/BB rate during his awful April and has notched a sub-mediocre 3/3 K/BB rate in May.
