Wilson has been named the Tigers' new closer, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
EDGE Analysis
K-Rod was just 7-for-11 in save opportunities and owned a brutal 8.94 ERA through 11.2 innings, so it comes as no surprise that the Tigers decided to try someone new at the end of games. Wilson owns an impressive 1.32 ERA and 0.59 WHIP through 13.2 innings this season, notching eight holds along the way as well. While manager Brad Ausmus left the door open for Rodriguez to reclaim his role as closer, it will be difficult to dethrone Wilson if he continues to pitch the way he has.
