White Sox prospect 3B Matt Davidson was 1-for-3 with his third home run of the season Thursday for Triple-A Charlotte.
Acquired from the Diamondbacks during the offseason, Davidson was assigned to Charlotte after failing to make the White Sox' Opening Day roster. The 23-year-old has struggled at the plate during the first month of the season, batting .172/.250/.333 with a 41/9 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 25 games. And while all three of his home runs this year have come Davidson's last 10 games, he's also posted a .536 OPS with 16 strikeouts during that span. With Marcus Semien off to a solid start this season and now playing mostly third base after Gordon Beckham's return from the disabled list, the White Sox have no reason to rush Davidson to the major leagues.
