White Sox designated 1B/OF Lars Anderson for assignment. Anderson was just claimed off waivers earlier this month, but the Sox decided they'd rather have Conor Gillaspie as a bench player. The former top prospect hit just .250/.353/.396 with nine homers and 59 RBI in 111 games between Boston's and Arizona's Triple-A affiliates in 2012.
