Whether or not the Cubs bring back Ian Stewart (wrist) next season will depend largely on reports from their doctors. Stewart, who underwent surgery on his left wrist in June, was examined by doctors Tuesday in order to check on his progress. "Obviously, we'll spend a lot of time getting to the bottom of how it looks going forward before making a decision on his future with us," general manager Jed Hoyer said. "It is a year that's hard to evaluate given the wrist." Stewart is under team control for two more years but is an obvious non-tender candidate after batting just .201/.292/.335 in his first year in Chicago.
