Wendle (shoulder) will begin the 2017 in extended spring training, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The 26-year-old is set to receive a cortisone shot in his ailing shoulder this week, a treatment likely to sideline him for a few days at the minimum. Wendle appeared in just seven games this spring before being shut down and will likely report to Double-A Midland or Triple-A Nashville upon his return to action.
