Wei-Yin Chen improved to 5-2, allowing one run over 5 1/3 innings as the Orioles defeated the Royals 2-1 on Thursday. Chen was excellent, holding the Royals to seven hits and a walk while striking out only one batter. Danny Valencia brought a run in with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth to cut the Orioles' lead to 2-1, but that would be it for scoring on the night. Chen, whose ERA is a respectable 3.69, will face the Pirates in Pittsburgh in his next outing.
