Weaver (wrist) has allowed one run on 12 hits and two walks while striking out 19 in 12.1 innings (two starts) since coming off the minor league DL for Double-A Springfield earlier this month.

These were his first two starts of the season after beginning the year on the DL with a broken wrist. He has been able to strand all but one of the 14 baserunners he has allowed this season, and is missing bats at a career clip. Whether or not Weaver can offer a third useful pitch to go with his fastball and changeup will determine his success in the big leagues. In the meantime, a plus changeup and pinpoint command will be enough for him to have the upper hand against most Texas League hitters.
