Weaver didn't factor into the decision in Friday's win over the Rangers, allowing one run on two hits and three walks while striking out two over six innings.
EDGE Analysis
Both of the hits Weaver surrendered were extra-base knocks off of the bat of Shin-Soo Choo, a fourth-inning blast serving as the fifth homer Weaver has given up this month. That's been Weaver's problem this season, when he's hit, he tends to get hit hard. The .460 slugging percentage batters have against him would rank sixth worst among starters if Weaver pitched enough innings to qualify. More disturbingly, Weaver has begun dishing out more and more free passes. After notching a 1.4 BB/9 ratio in his first 19 outings, Weaver has more than doubled his rate to 3.43 K/9 in his last seven starts. High walk rates and a penchant for allowing extra-base hits tend not to mix well together.
