Wandy Rodriguez (forearm) will not return before September, at the earliest. Rodriguez threw "nice and easy, loose" from 60 feet Thursday, but it's still unclear when he'll be ready to throw off a mound. He could obviously benefit from a rehab assignment, though it's possible the minor league season could be over by the time he's ready for one. "We do believe there is a progression he needs to go through, completely," manager Clint Hurdle said, "before he gets on the mound, and we are following that. He is very encouraged with the improvement."
