Walters, who will be called up from Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday, figures to see playing time at both shortstop and third base, Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Speaking Monday, Indians president Chris Antonetti confirmed the expectation that Mike Aviles will get most of the playing time at shortstop while Giovanny Urshela gets most of the playing time at third base. Walters could still see a good number of at-bats, serving as the top backup at both positions, and also capable of playing second base or outfield. While he has excellent power for a player with middle-infield eligibility, Walters still lacks contact and on-base skills. Furthermore, Lonnie Chisenhall and top prospect Francisco Lindor are both candidates to be called up by the end of June.
