Vargas (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment in Arizona this Saturday, Rustin Dodd of the Kansas City Star reports.

The 33-year-old Vargas has not pitched since July of 2015, but seems to be nearing the end of recovery from Tommy John surgery. In Arizona, he is expected to throw two innings for the Royals' Rookie League affiliate and appears to be on track for a return to the majors this season.
