Vargas (14-10) was mauled by the Tigers to the tune of seven runs on six hits and a walk over just two innings in Tuesday's 13-2 loss.
EDGE Analysis
After setting down the side in order in the first inning, Vargas completely fell apart in the second. He started the frame by hitting a batter and walking another, then gave up a two-run double, an RBI single and a two-run homer before recording the first out; a second two-run shot rounded out the scoring and ensured that Vargas didn't come out to pitch the third inning. The veteran lefty, so good in the first half, has been an absolute train wreck over his last six starts -- over 28.1 innings, he's given up 29 earned runs, thanks in no small part to nine homers. Starting him in fantasy is a hard-to-justify gamble at this point.
