Twins pitching prospect Kyle Gibson has been diagnosed with a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.
Gibson will not need Tommy John surgery -- at least not at this time -- but instead will head to Fort Myers, FL in order to begin his rehab. Assuming the rehab goes as expected, the promising young right-hander should be good to go by the time spring training rolls around, but obviously his 2011 season is over. He finishes with a 4.81 ERA over 18 Triple-A starts, though he was likely pitching hurt when he posted a 5.17 ERA in June and allowed 13 runs over two starts in July.
