Twins general manager Terry Ryan announced Monday that Joe Mauer (concussion) will be shut down for the rest of the season. Mauer has simply failed to make significant progress since his concussion last month, so the Twins want to turn the focus on getting him healthy for 2014. The 30-year-old will finish the season with a .324/.404/.476 batting line to go along with 11 home runs and 47 RBI in 113 games. As of now, the Twins anticipate him being their catcher next season.
