Troy Renck of the Denver Post reports that the Rockies "remain strongly interested" in a trade for Mets' infielder Justin Turner.
The Rockies' efforts to acquire Marco Sctuaro from the Red Sox hit a snag, but Renck calls Turner a "more attainable target" to play second base. We wouldn't argue with that. Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reported last month that the Rockies and Mets were talking about a deal that would send Turner to Colorado in exchange for Eric Young, Jr. The 27-year-old infielder batted .260/.334/.356 with four homers, 51 RBI and a .690 OPS over 487 plate appearances with New York last season. As of now, Jonathan Herrera, Chris Nelson and D.J. LeMahieu figure to compete for the Rockies' starting second base job during spring training.
