T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports that the Rangers have signed A.J. Pierzynski to a one-year contract, pending a physical. Terms aren't yet known, but the physical is slated for Friday. Pierzynski is coming off a strong season for the White Sox in which he batted .278/.326/.501 with a career-high 27 homers, so the Rangers did well to get him on a one-year deal. The addition of Pierzynski will likely push Geovany Soto into a diminished role.
