T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports that the Rangers have placed catcher Yorvit Torrealba on release waivers. Torrealba was designated for assignment last week. The Rangers were unable to find a trade for him, so he will be given his outright release if he isn't claimed. The 34-year-old backstop is hitting just .236/.302/.342 with three homers and a .643 OPS in 49 games played this season.
