Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Aaron Sanchez will join the bullpen rather than the starting rotation upon his return to the major leagues from a back injury, according to the National Post. Sanchez was excellent as a late-inning reliever for the Blue Jays last season, posting a 1.09 ERA and 0.70 WHIP over 33 innings, but has struggled with his control as a starter this year. He owns a 3.55 ERA over 11 starts, but has almost as many walks (37) as strikeouts (42). The 22-year-old right-hander is currently on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Buffalo and is expected to return this week.
