Todd Helton told the Denver Post on Saturday that he will retire at the end of the season. Everyone has been assuming that'd be the case for most of the year, but this confirms it. Helton had a Hall of Fame-prime for the Rockies, even after accounting for Coors Field, but since he didn't establish himself until he was 24 and back problems caused his play to fall off in his mid-30s, he's likely to have a hard time getting into Cooperstown. With a couple of weeks left to go, he's a lifetime .317/.415/.539 hitter with 367 homers and 1,397 RBI in 17 seasons.
