Todd Helton (hip) will begin his rehab assignment Friday night with the Rockies' rookie league affiliate in Grand Junction. Helton is scheduled to play in games on Friday and Saturday and hopes to return as soon as he's eligible early next week. "I took swings today and everything felt good, so I don't anticipate there being any problems," said Helton. The 38-year-old is batting just .235/.332/.398 with seven homers, 34 RBI and a .730 OPS in 63 games played this season.
