Tigers optioned LHP Jose Alvarez to Triple-A Toledo. Alvarez was sent down in order to make room for Anibal Sanchez who will be activated on Saturday. The 24-year-old lefty posted a 5.03 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 17/7 K/BB ratio over 19 2/3 innings in four starts for the Tigers. He could be again be an option should the Tigers suffer another injury in their rotation.
