Tigers manager Jim Leyland said talk of calling up pitching prospect Jacob Turner sometime in the next month would be "long-shot speculation." It's not exactly a denial that Turner could be an option at some point later this season, but the Tigers are focused on adding a pitcher from outside the organization and need to keep the 20-year-old in the minors for seasoning. Turner has posted a 3.49 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 79/29 K/BB ratio over 100 2/3 innings for Double-A Erie.
