Tigers manager Jim Leyland indicated Friday that he's not ready to remove Jose Valverde from the closer role. "We're going to use Jose Valverde until we decide Jose Valverde can or can't do it or we've got somebody else better," said Leyland. It's not exactly a vote of confidence, but it sounds like they will stick with him for now. The 35-year-old has a 4.15 ERA, three blown saves and five homers allowed in just 18 appearances this season. It would be surprising if he didn't eventually lose the closer gig.
