Allen will likely begin the 2022 season for Low-A Daytona in the Florida State League, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports. He hit .328/.440/.557 in the Arizona Complex League after getting drafted with the 30th overall pick in last year's draft.

Allen has really impressed the Reds with his athleticism and early results, though the team has cautioned that he's still really raw. He's been working a lot with Eric Davis, who is now a special assistant to the general manager for player development. "Jay still has a lot of high school tendencies, which is normal," Davis said.
